Internal Consumption
The Internal Consumption is a mandatory accounting document whose purpose is to register inventory decreases, processed for internal purposes (consumption within the company).
A new functionality was developed in order to register this type of document.
Setup Internal Consumptions
- To check the general setup for internal consumptions, access the Tell me icon and search for General Setup. Check the Internal Consumption field in the Extension Management tab.
- Access the Tell me icon and search for Inventory Setup. Check the following fields:
- Internal Consumption Nos. – select the number series you want to use for the open internal consumption documents;
- Posted Int. Consumption Nos. – select the number series you want to use for the posted internal consumption documents;
- Gen.Bus.Posting Group Int. Cons. – select the business posting group you want to use when posting the consumption;
Create and Post Internal Consumptions
You can access the open internal consumptions documents list by searching in the Tell me icon for Internal Consumptions.
- Create a new document by clicking on the New button.
- In the document header you can fill in the following fields:
- No. – it is generated automatically from Internal Consumption No. Series;
- Comment – click on the No value; the system opens the standard Comment functionality;
- Location Code - select the location code from where you want to decrease the stock;
- Your reference – you can insert a short comment (30 characters);
- Posting Date and Document Date – automatically gets the system work date; you can change it to another date if the case;
- External Document No. - fill in an external number for your document.
- In the document lines you need to fill in the following fields:
- No. – select the Item no. you want to consume;
- Variant Code – select the variant code of the Item no. (optional);
- Description – is filled in automatically with the item/variant description;
- Quantity – the quantity you want to decrease from inventory;
- Unit of Measure Code – select the unit of measure;
- Apply-to Item entry – you can use this field if you want to apply the inventory decrease to a specific inventory entry (optional);
Note
Other fields available in the document lines are automatically filled in with information from the selected item card (category, group codes, inventory posting group).
- After filling in the document information, you can post it by accessing the Post button from the open document menu.
- The open document is deleted and a new Posted Internal Consumption document is created. You can access it by searching in the Tell me icon for Posted Internal Consumptions.
- Open the posted document and use the Navigate functionality to check the G/L and Item Ledger Entry of the transaction.
Important
In Item Ledger Entry you should find one entry for each released quantity per Item and Variant Code. The Entry Type is set to Sale.
